  • this too shall pass
remember this phrase to help keep you sane during the colicky phase, the tantrum phase, the teenage rebellion phase, and everything in between.
  • silver spoons do more than look good on a display shelf
chill a baby silver spoon in the freezer to ease teething gums. just remember to supervise baby at all times to avoid injury.
  • your emergency kit - don't leave home without it
murphy's law ... that quick trip to the store turns into an all-day event and you didn't pack extra supplies. solution: keep a second diaper bag, or at least the essential contents, in your car. for infants, pack 1-2 diapers, wipes, ointment, 1-2 burp cloths, 1 extra outfit (complete with socks), an extra lovey (trust us!), and plastic bags (for messy clothes/used diapers). for toddlers, adjust to include pull-ups or a change of underpants along with an extra outfit and swap the lovey for some paper and washable crayons (to keep kids occupied if you have a long wait in your future).
  • juice box tabs save shirts
don't cry over spilt juice anymore. to prevent your toddler from squeezing too much, pull open the top corner tabs on any juice box and have your child use them as handles.
  • green eggs and ham is just the beginning
help your child learn his colors by adding them to food. turn eggs green, mashed potatoes blue, or yogurt red. for more fun, mix two or more colors and teach your little ones about secondary and tertiary colors.
  • you get what you get and you don't get upset
sometimes a choice isn't available. help little ones (and big ones, too!) grasp the concept with this saying that is easy to understand and helps prevent meltdowns.
